Everybody has at a certain time worried about something, but the narrator in the short story Preparation portrays an obsession with death and with thinking about certain things too much. The narrator is annoyed by many things. The story is told in first person narrative.  The narrator tends to question everything and likes to attain answers.  He does not know what would happen if he would die. The problem with the narrator is that there are not answers for the question he seeks. He is oddly curious about nakedness and the appearance of a person. In the beginning of the story Kenneth incorporates how the narrator questions actions that could be controversial. The narrator questions if in any circumstances we shall hesitate to put on clothes in order to take action in a life or death situation. Being naked could bring forth some insecurity for the narrator and it is why he questions if people would take action in these situation naked or take a "fateful minute" to put clothes on.  The obsession of  being exposed naked is the idea that revolves around the narrator which can bring forth the question if he is unhappy with his body, or is he simply curious.
